A year and a half in the works...finally I set the sleeves in. Why didn't I do that ages ago? It wasn't very hard and didn't really take very long. Next I will attach that ribbed collar thingie. With some kind of special magic backstitch technique that I have to learn about. I think carrieoke did it recently, so maybe I'll check in with her if I need help.
In other news, I'm motoring on the left front of Martha. I'm almost to the halfway point in only 2 days! I need to keep that momentum going.
I caved and ordered Rowan 38 (my LYS doesn't carry the full Rowan line, so I can't buy it locally). I am a Rowan fan, so I couldn't resist. I'm convinced that there have to be a few items in the magazine that I haven't seen online yet.
P.S. Does anyone out there ever wear her Cardi Raye? I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever wear this BRIGHT thing.
So I'm not a total knitting loser after all. I finally finished something, even if it is just a piece of a garment. So now I am merrily knitting on the left front of "Martha" today. Should go twice as fast, right?
from offhand designs...
I'm just getting used to it. I was convinced that the smaller size wouldn't be a problem, because you never really take more than one little part of a knitting project with you at one time. Or a sock...that would of course fit nicely. I like it!
The first piece of Martha is oh so close. I know this is a boring progress shot, but I had to post it to try and keep myself motivated and on track. A few more centimeters...
I completed the Chocolate Mint Stripe socks last night. I love these! I used the Yankee Knitter sock pattern and Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock in a special color not widely available. Now it's time to work on the beads...Martha, I know I've neglected you. I promise things will be better this time.
I don't know if any of you have looked at the previews of the new Rowan 38 -- but in my opinion it looks like a real lemon. I do predict a River-along for all those who were into Birch. I'm not sure about those pom pom scarves or the conservative vest with weird j-pop intarsia panda. Hmmm, Kim Hargreaves, where are you? Come back...
In the wee hours of last night, I finished the first Mint Chocolate Stripe sock. This is not a great photo, but my photographer is out of town ;) I'll give you something a little better when I finish the pair. I'm not crazy about the skinny stripes -- I love chunkier ones. But the colors are so great together that I don't care. I love the fit, and the yarn feels great on my foot! So far so good.
