I realize that I haven't shown you much in the way of knitting lately. I am working on a few little things, but some of them are top secret baby. Also, life has been v. busy, which I know is a good thing. So I will instead show you a portrait of me and my new husband which was drawn by our three-year-old niece:
And to answer your questions:
Yes, my husband's legs are very long, and his head looks like a lemon.
and
Yes, I have three eyeballs and a claw hand.
On second thought, that looks nothing like me. I wouldn't be caught dead in a dress that color.
Well, what's up out there? I am mourning the loss of Reverie Knits. She will be missed by those who loved reading her blog. Farewell. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
I also feel a sense of relief that Kitten Avec Whip is home with her feet firmly planted on the ground. I am one of the (few) people who read her deleted post about the boy, and I have to say that I felt for her.
Lots o' tid bits on the needles right now. Can't say much, or don't feel like it really. I'm working toward a big proposal, so I'm in busy mode. Designing lots of v. fabulous knits.
I ordered a cone of lace weight merino from Skacel as a possible substitute for Kid Silk Haze. I'm not sure how it will go. The yarn is on its way to me right now. I am dying to make Aimee from Vintage Style, but the mohair madness tends to drive me, well, mad. A woman at Wildfiber told me that the silk content keeps the mohair from being itchy, but I don't know yet. A few tests are in order.
When I'm at work and just need to escape, I look at this picture:
My honeymoon view of the Mediterranean.
Annie Modesitt was a delight! There were eleven students in the class. We discussed color theory, then jumped into stripes, fair isle, vertical stripes, intarsia, slip stitch stuff, plaid, and cabling without a cable needle! A great four hours for me. I'm ready to dive into my first intarsia projects...bring on the color!
Oh, by the way, I'm reading my autographed copy of Confessions of a Knitting Heretic.
Show me the weekend! Even though this was a short work week, it seemed to take its sweet time. Hopefully a little more time for knitting. Weeeeee!
Found out that Annie Modesitt is teaching a class at Wildfiber while she is here in Los Angeles shooting her "Knitty Gritty" spot. Knitting with Color next Saturday. I am so there. Cannot wait...
Lots of good things to report:
My friend Jaime got married! Though we've always kept in touch, we had not seen each other in 7 years. I made the trip to Pennsylvania to see her and her beau tie the knot.
Slow progress on the chevron rib tank. Mom and I had our own little knit-along on this one. She finished hers last weekend, so I need to get a move on! Next we are knitting Kate together, and something v. awesome happenend last night. I went to my LYS and the Rowan ASC, which I plan to use for Kate, was 50% off! Yee-haw.
Big job interview coming up soon. Too big to discuss now, but will know more in about a month.
I'm loving Aimee from Rowan Vintage Style, but have to complete test with Kidsilk Haze to see if mohair content sends me into an itching frenzy.
Husband received 4 stitches in his finger on Monday night. It's healing well. Good news - he'll be back to washing dishes for me in no time.
P.S. Forgot to mention, the new Interweave Knits "Crochet" issue has a designer profile/interview with funk fiber artist Xenobia Bailey, whom many of you may remember from Ann and Kay's blog (November 14 entry).
