Same ol'

The brain is pure mush today. I'm not quite sure why.

Paul and I spent lunch at the courthouse picking up our marriage license. The clerk said to us, "I.D.s, seventy dollars." I told him, "Wow. You make it sound like an assembly line." For some of us out there, it's a bit more significant than just a piece of paper and seventy dollars. I'm glad for me that it is. Of all the other 25 couples we saw there in 30 minutes, I wonder how many of the marriages will last a lifetime. Probably not so many.

One of our good friends in New York is expecting a baby. Happy times for them! Now I will knit them something extra sweet for their bundle of joy.

Hmmmm...I am sitting here at work under the gorgeously disgusting glow of fluorescent lights. I want to knit right here at work, but I can't really get away with that anymore. Those were the good old days.

Tea for two?

pinkcup.jpg

First pink cup is done...these are definitely a quickie knit. I will cast on for another cup today. How many cups should I make? 2 or 4?

I ordered some Jean Greenhowe books after seeing Helene's adorable tea set. These are fun books indeed! I've always wanted to knit a tiny glass of lemonade.

My friend Katie hosted a dinner party/couples' wedding shower for me and Paul last night, which was great. We caught up with friends that we hadn't seen in over a year.

The wedding countdown is set: 3 weeks. Italy, here I come.

My cup of tea

I've got my warm-up cup done! I was so anxious to get going on the tea party that I grabbed some red cotton classic out of my stash and got busy...my plan is to make a whole tea set in -- guess what -- pink! Two shades of pink. So this red cup was my way of checking out the pattern & making sure I could do the i-cord bind off.

Baby sweater #2 from one of Debbie Bliss's books is flying off the needles as well. This one is for a good friend at work who is due in September. I am going to embroider something on the front of it -- still deciding. I'll post pix soon.

Joining in

I have joined Alison's tea party! This is such a fun knit along...recently I tried making the teacup from Debbie New's book Unexpected Knitting, but it was a little too complicated for me. I'm not much of a Fair Isle girl. But the Fiestaware set looks right up my alley. I'll try to cast on something tonight. I think my mom might join me!

Update

I know I have fallen off the face of the blogging earth, but it was so worth it. I have finished a project that will be revealed in due time. Couldn't talk about it much here...

I missed everyone. I caught up a little bit on my favorite reads last night. Okay, Alison has wowed me with her awesome cardi raye! It looks totally fab on her. I was so happy to rescue my cardi raye from the WIP basket last night and knit a few rows after being apart from her for so long.

I'm about to start a baby blanket for a work friend. Something fun and mindless. I want that kind of knitting right now to counter the busyness with everything else in my life.

I'm getting ready for my honeymoon trip to Italy mid July. And I'm already thinking about finding yarn shops. Oh, how romantic.

It's been too long

Hi everyone. I have been slammed by the pre-wedding chaos this last month. We have had two engagement parties (one in Texas with my family, complete with barbecue and all the fixins) and one here in L.A. This last Saturday was my bridal shower -- it was awesome. During all this I have also been slaving away at a new knitting project, dealing with a car repair from a 5-car pile up, changing jobs, and -- most recently -- battling the flu. It has definitely been a challenging time for me. I can't wait to return to normal sometime soon.
