Here's my progress report for the week. I'm halfway through the armhole bind off. Man, I'm excited to see this baby all finished up. Must keep knitting!
Have a great weekend.
Okay, I'm working on Cardi Raye again...there's something soothing about working on it. I forgot to mention recently that Chandra finished hers!! It looks awesome. Go give her a big high five. Maybe someday soon I'll be there too.
At least one FO flew off my needles today: silk wedding yarmulke that my fiance will wear during our wedding ceremony. How sweet...maybe it will be a family heirloom. It's blocking on an inflated balloon right now. And no, I'm not trying to say that my husband-to-be is an airhead. But the balloon does bear a striking resemblance in size to his head. Hmmm...
One other note: I'm about to take the Starmore plunge. I'm not ready for fair isle or steeking yet. I'm starting out with some of the textured, cabley stuff. How about Fern from Stillwater? I think it's a gorgeous sweater, but I want to find a substitute for the wool yarn. I can't wear a heavy sweater here in Southern California, and I tend to get the itchies with certain yarns. Any suggestions for a lighter substitute? Cotton, cotton blend, something in worsted weight that will show off cables and textures well?
I've know I've been a bad blogger...Everything piles up from time to time. But I will resume my regularly-scheduled life sometime after the wedding.
Almost finished with Paul's silk ivory kippah. By the end of today.
That with some cardi-raye sprinkled in.
I ordered yarn for polka purl dots from the "pink" Interweave Knits. As if I have time.
No time to write lately...bogged down with tons o' stuff. Work, knitting, wedding. All is well. It's always fun to go around tasting yummy wedding cake.
One new cardi raye knitalong-er...please visit Francesca.
I've begun the back of cardi raye...I have to work on a little secret side project for a while, so I won't be working on raye at break-neck speed. But a little here and there hopefully.
Everyone's cardis are looking great. Alison has made a firm stand on no sparkles. That's her story, and she's sticking to it. Leigh led me to believe that she may continue with her cardi despite size scruples...maybe it could be for Becky too! Kimberly has also finished two sleeves and cast on for the back. I think Chandra is only lacking sleeves at this point. Kristy is working away on the fronts, back is already in the bag, thank you very much. Stacy is also working away on the back. She had a fun sequence of pictures of her yarn's arrival from breiweb. Jenn encountered a few problems recently, but she's not giving up. Stop by and give her your support. Maybe MKaye can report to us in the comments how hers is coming along (or send me a photo, I will post it for you).
I love knit-alongs!
Nothing to post knitwise, but today I made my first batch of macaroons ever! I hope these will be a hit tonight for Passover. How could I go wrong with Martha Stewart's recipe? She may be a bad liar, but she knows how to make a beautiful dinner table...
