I gauge swatched last night while watching the O.C. Who knew I was becoming such a T.V. addict? My beautiful new size 4 (US) Brittany birch needles gave me a perfect stitch count! This morning I cast on, and I'm well on my way (3 rows).
The fires are blazing here in Southern California. Everyone I work with is glued to the news, watching as more neighborhoods are evacuated, hoping that theirs isn't next. Ah-nuld will have to let all of Hollywood burn down before the fires could get to me -- one instance where living in a big, crowded city is actually advantageous.
I am now an active player in the Phildar knit-along. Here's what I'm making with Debbie Bliss cotton cashmere. I'm feeling excited about this one!
Settling in last night with my black poncho and DVD of "The Office," I knitted and laughed my way through almost 6 episodes. I found myself so addicted to this show that, unbeknownst to me, I had watched the entire first season in one sitting. What a wicked show!
My page underwent a little facelift today at work. I'm much happier with the three-column pretty-in-pink version! Still more changes to come, but I am finally a little more settled on this design.
After much anticipation, my Phildar magazines arrived today. Unfortunately, one of them is not what I ordered :(
I'll figure something out.
After about 5 seconds of deliberating, alien scarf has been sent to the frog pond. The yarn is too itchy, and I'm just not staying interested in it. Am I a bad knitter? I always feel guilty when I ditch a project.
A little shout out to my friend Kim who started her blog over the weekend. Keep up the good work, it's looking awesome!
How to get out of a knitting rut?
A. a good swift kick in the pants
B. some will and determination
C. a fun, quick little project
D. none of the above
Knitting is on the back burner at the moment. After choosing a photographer yesterday and ordering my wedding gown this morning, the stress levels are rapidly declining! (I love my dress. Wearing it makes me feel like a fairy tale princess.)
Alien scarf is on the needles. Only one alien is staring back at me -- I think I'm supposed to make 6.
I plan on relaxing away the rest of the weekend. A nap sounds great right about now. Mmmmm.
I've been super productive the last couple of days. It feels great! Very little knitting going on, but lots of other things. I gave the earflap baby hat to my co-worker. He was appreciative.
I found a wedding gown (almost)! I figured it was best to give it a few days, so I'm trying it on again Saturday, and if I still love it, then I'll know it's the one.
Also, I'm about to start a couple of holiday and birthday gifts, but I can't mention them here in case the intended recipient is reading this blog! That would be no fun. Another day off and then the weekend. Weeee. What a treat!
Eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Phildar magazines, I knit upon the never-ending poncho. Perhaps its final demise will coincide with my parcel's arrival. Have I lost my mind?
Checklist for tomorrow (weekday off from work):
change oil in car
try on wedding gowns
browse a few yarn shops
I'm smiling already.
A quick little topper for my co-worker's new baby girl. I finished it in one day at work. (Don't tell anyone that I knit at work!) These fast little projects are great to get the juices going. Here's the pattern I used from Debbie Bliss's The Baby Knits Book.
Maybe now I'll delve into the Sock Monkey. Can I turn this
into this?
Almost done with the never-ending poncho! It lacks about 12 inches, but now I think it might be too wide. The fabric drapes very heavily, and it seems to have stretched quite a bit. I just want to get it off the needles; I don't REALLY care if I can actually wear it or not anymore.
I cheated and let myself start another wee project...the knitted Elvis wig from Sirdar. My boyfriend is sad because I am supposed to finish the crocheted sock monkey doll for him that I started in August. I just don't want to spend any knitting time on crochet! Is it because I think crochet is low art? Maybe.
